Here to Help You Grow Through the Transitions of Life

My Approach

Collaborative

I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives. A one-size-fits-all approach is not a helpful way to start a therapeutic journey. I will work with you to create a plan and approach that works for you: focusing on your goals, your strengths, and your concerns.

Eclectic

Since no two clients are the same, I believe that it is necessary to pull concepts and techniques from different modes of therapy. I have enjoyed and use ideas regularly from Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, and Narrative Therapy.

Supportive

A strengths-based approach is a tenet in my professional practice. I believe that everyone, no matter their history, has strengths and abilities that they can use to improve their lives and reach their goals. We can work together to find out how!

About Me

Welcome! My name is Abby Schell and I am a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I am originally from a small town in Florida, but have lived most of my adult life around the world due to my husband’s time in the Marine Corps. I graduated with my Master in Social Work from East Carolina University in 2014. I have since worked with clients across all age and demographic populations, from toddlers to elder care. I see clients for a variety of reasons, including: depression, anxiety, coping with life transitions, past trauma, and sleep disorders.

I spend most time outside of work with family and friends. My husband and I have 2 children, along with 4 dogs and a cat. I also enjoy crocheting, writing, and reading.

I would love the chance to work with you!

Small…in the best way!

I take on a small caseload very intentionally so that I can devote the appropriate amount of time to each client I have. My small caseload also means that I can move appointments around more easily if something comes up in your life and you need to reschedule.

Benefits

Flexibility

I have many times available to meet during the week and weekend, generally outside of “normal business hours”. You shouldn’t have to take a sick day to care for your mental health.

Telehealth Model

I work exclusively from my home office. As a client this means that you can save time getting ready, driving, finding parking, etc. Just show up with an internet or phone connection and we’ll have a great session together!

FAQ

  • First things first, don't be nervous. We'll start with a free consultation to determine your needs and if you think we will be a good fit, therapeutically. After that, we can set up an appointment.

  • Pricing is based largely on your insurance plan and copays. Generally, therapy falls into the "specialist" category of cost.

If you plan to self-pay, without insurance involvement, I generally charge $75 for each hour-long session.

I believe that therapy should be accessible to all. I try to keep my prices at a point to reflect that. I also offer a sliding scale based on income for individuals who are eligible. If you would like more information about that, please call or email me and I will be happy to assist.

  • I am currently able to accept Cigna, Aetna, and Capital Blue Cross insurances in the state of Pennsylvania.

Get in touch

Finding a therapist is a very personal journey. You should find someone you are comfortable with and whose ideals and techniques align with your needs. For that reason, I offer a free 15 minute consultation for us to meet over phone or video chat before scheduling an appointment.
